Book of the Week: The Hobbit

I’ve decided to read a book a week, about 50 pages a day. This is part of my effort to unplug and wind down my day, so I can have a great night’s sleep and start the next day excited and energized. It is with absolutely by chance that I am reading The Hobbit as the movie is coming out soon. I’ve never read the book, but I had a copy around my home, so it jumped to the top of my reading list. It is too bad there is no free version of The Hobbit on gutenberg.org. Everyone should have an opportunity to read it, because it is a great book. I never read The Lord of the Rings, but I saw all three movies. After reading The Hobbit, I think it is better to read the book first before seeing the movie. This gives your imagination space to work and when you see the same scenes appear, it brings about a nostalgia. If you read a book a week, you can only read 52 books a year. That seems a real shame since there are so many books to read. I only wished I had started making a real effort to read sooner. There are a lot of books that I won’t get to read in my lifetime. There is no better time to start than now. Well, maybe yesterday or the day before yesterday. Purchase The Hobbit on Amazon.com or check it out at your local library.
