Values

13 May 2026

So I made a web app to figure out my values. I took a list from some website and ranked it.

After 210 pairwise comparisons, the top of my list is

  1. Family
  2. Health
  3. Making a difference
  4. Kindness
  5. Fun
  6. Truth
  7. Learning
  8. Love
  9. Financial Stability
  10. Usefulness

Getting rid of family and health since they don’t relate to what I want to do

  1. Making a difference
  2. Kindness
  3. Fun
  4. Truth
  5. Learning
  6. Love
  7. Financial Stability
  8. Usefulness
  9. Safety
  10. Collaboration

Cutting to 5.

  1. Making a difference
  2. Kindness
  3. Fun
  4. Truth
  5. Learning

Summary: I want to have fun, learning the truths of the world to make a difference while spreading kindness.

Will my values change in the future, maybe? At least I have more information than when I started.

Some interesting things I encountered

What is the difference between knowledge and wisdom? And competence for that matter? I asked, google and the AI answer gave (knowledge - what, wisdom - why, competence - how) and that totally makes sense. I thought I valued knowledge, but I considered that book smarts. I would take wisdom over knowledge.

“Being the best” ranked low, so it turns out I don’t really want to become a Pokemon master.

Honesty vs Integrity, turns out integrity matters more to me than honesty, that was suprising. Choosing that made me feel like a dishonest person, but this is why pairwise comparison is important.
